Hello my dear fans!
I apologize that it's been many months since I've checked in and kept you all updated with what I, Dohon of dcphotography has been up to. Juggling between full-time work and photography can be challenging at times but life should have some challenges just to keep things interesting. Everyone has challenges in their life but luckily for individuals like myself and probably you, we live in a developed country so our daily challenges/problems are mostly on a personal level. However, individuals in undeveloped countries are faced with challenges daily that impact their nation as a whole. In the back of our minds we know of such challenges they face such as hunger and war but because it does not concern us directly, we just leave it at the back of our minds. I admit I'm guilty for that.
Recently I watched a news clip of Kenyans facing starvation as a result of a serious drought. It made me think for a second how fortunate we are living in a developed country. It also inspired me to contribute. Every month I will have 2 weeks as a donation period. 100% of all profits from these 2 weeks will be donated to a certain charity, fund, or organization. To kickstart it, next month(Sept) I will donate 100% of all profits from the entire month and not just 2 weeks. I will be squeezing in as many assignments as I can so please help spread the word. Think how great it is. Usually people donate but they don't get anything in return. With me, you get professional photos and you can feel good knowing 100% of your money will go towards a good cause! That's killing two birds with one stone! So please help me spread the word to everyone you know. Thank you and don't forget to watch the video. VFW 2009
VFW Fall/Winter 2009 was a blast but I must say, it wasn't as much of a blast with the photo editing. Although the photos don't have much editing to be done, it was just the quantity. Every night I took over 700 photos and mulitply that by a week, haha. I must admit I wasn't able edit the photos in front of my computer as long as I wanted. M eyes just wouldn't cooperate after working my daytime job. However I tried to tough it out as much as I could and now I'm finally done. And finally I had time to update my site. Next step, distribute the photos to the appropriate designers. Today I saw Jamal, the VFW Producer, and he said the next VFW is October! Can't wait!!!

VFW Fall/Winter 2009 Opening Gala
What an opening gala it was! I arrived early with my assistant since we had to get our press badges. Leone started filling up with people all glamourous and dressed up. I believe my assistant and I were the only dressed up photographers, haha. My friend Kaila of Ann.i.e. Group got in but she didn't get her press badge since it got "taken" by someone. It was a great night of complimentary wine and chocolates as well as an awesome chance to meet and greet with all the designers as well as other industry individuals. It was a little taste of what we will see on the runway.
Tonight was the very first runway show. After a long delay, the beats started pumping, spotlights came on, the crowd started cheering and the very first model came strutting down the runway. Tonight's show featured Papillon Eastern(Vancouver), Gianni Al Maanaki(Lebanon), Porscia(Vancouver), and Frost Sportiva(Calgary). There was also a hair and makeup competition that was to be featured later at the Centre for Performing Arts. The models were getting ready at Storyeum so we got to see the crazy crazy hair and high fashion makeup. Below is the show schedule for the rest of the week:

VFW Fall/Winter 2009 Countdown
3 days until Vancouver Fashion Week! I'm quite excited because it's my first time attending it. I was supposed to attend the last one but unfortunately I was unable to due to prior business commitments. I met with Carly today who was in charge of the photographers for the shows. She looked like Vickie, a friend of mine. We went over the expectations and I was very excited to get my press badge but they weren't back from the printers yet so we won't get it until the opening gala night =( I'm already stressing about what to wear to the opening gala as well as all the 22 shows. Well, mostly it's the opening gala. It will be full of VIPs and high profile individuals. I have so much going through my mind but I'm sure it will be a blast. Fashion shows are so high energy and fun!

The opening gala(private event) will be held at Leone, which is home to the most famous international fashion designers such as Prada, Burberry, Versace, and Jimmy Choo. I can't wait! I am quite excited for "A Night in Shanghai" where Helen Lee and her designs will be featured! She has earned many awards and was one of the featured designers on America's Next Top Model Cycle 9!
